MOVING THE MOUNTAINS

The other day,  I was standing in front of a mountain in my native place.  It was of solid rock having some green vegetation here and there.  I was wondering whether this mountain can be moved ! Lord Jesus says that even mountains can be moved by our faith.  He has assured us that if there is faith, we can ask this mountains to move, and it will move.   I believe in him.  Who am I to judge the teaching of  God incarnates ? I am nobody to  judge or doubt  the teachings of  gigantic spiritualities such as Lord Jesus, shri Buddha, Lord Shri Krishna etc..they may be in position to judge each other, but instead they seems to acknowledge & salute each other as their goal is the same--God realisation.  So, I don't have any doubts in my mind that if Jesus or any other spiritual torch bearers says that the mountains can be moved by our faith, so it will be, I believe in them without any doubt, that it can be moved.

I have moved many mountains in my life by faith, hope & courage. I was about twenty years of age when my father suddenly expired. As I was the eldest son, I had to support a big family of my mother and six younger siblings. After my marriage the financial situation became very tough. My earnings was insignificant when compared to the requirements.  A Mountain of financial problems was in front of me. By faith, hope, and courage, together with my wife, we crushed the mountain piece by piece and moved it to the sides. We cut a road, and on the way there were other mountains to be moved such as anxiety, uncertainty, lack of hope---We came across many such mountains in our life, immediately after one another, as our road was going through a mountainous range.  There were mountains of problems associated with our children's education, building a house, my employment, living together as a family, character formation of our children, to make them spiritual but not fanatics, their marriages, guide them to settle in a family life, and many more. Together with my wife and by great faith, hope and courage, we pulverized all these mountains and moved it to the sides one by one to make a straight path. We could clear our path, and instilled hope & faith in our children to move their mountains by themselves. As satisfied parents, now we are standing at the side lines and watching how our children are moving their mountains.

We can see in Ramayana that Shri Hanuman moves mountains by his bare hands. This was possible because of his unmitigated faith in Lord Shri Rama. There are many pictures of Shri Hanuman carrying mountain in his bare hand.  He could do anything with his faith. When the situations demanded, he leaped over the sea from India to Srilanka . That  was the magnitude of his faith. But other people also reached Srilanka, but only after  building a sea  bridge. It took several days to make this bridge. So the time and effort taken for crossing the sea was proportionate to their faith .Shri Hanuman could achieve this within no time by his undying faith focused in Lord Shri Rama.

I strongly believe in moving mountains. There are God realised Mahatmas who can move mountains just by a thought. But their mind is always fixed at the Lotus feet of God almighty, never to be diverted even for a fraction of a second. With their unflinching faith, anything is possible. The faith is so complete, there is no need for them to put their Lord the God to such tests. So, all these mountains of  rocks are remaining as it is,where it is from time immemorial.

I have seen other people, say Rail road engineers, with the degree of faith and conviction in their job, they pulverize and move the mountains in months time by bringing in heavy machinery ,Earth movers, Rock crushers, excavators and conveyors along with hundreds of laborers.

So, I am still standing in front of  this rocky mountain in my native village wondering whether it will be possible for me to move it !. Anything is possible. As told by  Lord Jesus, keep faith,  mountains can be moved. I slowly walked up the mountain, picked up some stones and started throwing it to the valley down side, So I started a beginning to move this mountain ! A great beginning ! The time taken and effort to this task will be proportionate to my faith and conviction. I firmly believe in Jesus teaching that mountains can be moved, please make the beginning, Let us start the job with our own capacity. Starting the job is more important. If not possible in single stretch, crush the mountain into stones and move it piece by piece, but let us move it, rather than going back wondering and scared by seeing the size of the mountain. The gigantic task at hand should not discourage us. Keep faith and hope. We are going to encounter many such mountains in our path..... .      LET US MOVE IT !

Are we not hearing that voice of someone shouting in the wilderness of our mind encouraging us to level the mountains, fill up the valleys, and to straighten the winding roads? Level the mountains of desires blocking our path, fill up the valleys  with our faith, smoothen the pot holed road with our 'Gurus' grace, which will make our path shorter and straight to the real destination where we actually going to live for ever.

  1. Absolutely true,
Mountains are also part of the landscape and should not be taken as a stumbling block.
I am amazed at the clarity of this blog and also the author has so beautifully inter-weaved the essence of different religions.
Reminds me of a saying: Paths (Religions) are many but God is one.
Thanks for making my day and God bless us all.
